Is Podcast Host really free?
Yes. There is no paid plan and there are no ads. Each account can have 3 shows and 2 GB of audio. One file can be 250 MB at most.
How is it different from a paid podcast host?
Paid hosts usually give you more. They have more storage, deeper statistics, a website for each show, ad tools and help from a support team.
Podcast Host does the main job and nothing else. You upload your episodes. You get an RSS feed that Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other apps can read. It is a good fit for a small show. If your show grows, you can move to a bigger host.
How do I get my show into Apple Podcasts and Spotify?
Make a show, add artwork and upload an episode. Then copy the public feed address of your show. Add a new show in Apple Podcasts Connect and in Spotify for Creators, and paste the address.
Apple sends a code to your contact email to check that the show is yours. After that, the apps get your new episodes from the feed by themselves.
Which audio files can I upload?
You can upload MP3 and M4A files. Video files are not allowed. The server checks the first bytes of each file, so a file with the wrong type is refused.
Can I keep a show private?
Yes. A private show has no public page and no public feed. It has one secret feed address. Add this address to a podcast app to listen. If the address leaks, make a new one. The old address stops working at once.
How are downloads counted?
A download counts when an app gets an episode from the start. One listener counts once for one episode in one day. Known crawlers do not count.
To do this, the server keeps a hash of the listener's address and browser for two days. It never stores the address itself.
Can I move my show here from another host?
Yes. Upload your episodes here. Then ask your old host to redirect its feed to the new feed address. A redirect keeps your listeners. Apple Podcasts Connect also lets you change the feed address of a show.
What happens when I delete a show?
The server deletes the episodes, the audio files, the artwork and the download counts at once. The feed stops working. You cannot undo this.
